Indigenous Tourism Consultant and Cultural Heritage Educator from the West Coast. Dedicated to promoting authentic, respectful engagement with First Nations communities and sustainable heritage tourism.
Talia Joseph is a cultural bridge-builder with deep roots in coastal First Nations communities and a Master’s degree in Indigenous Governance. For the past decade, she has worked with the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) to certify and promote authentic experiences that honor traditional protocols. Her writing focuses on the nuances of reconciliation through travel, teaching visitors how to distinguish between appropriation and appreciation, and how to navigate cultural events like Powwows with respect. Talia provides critical context on the history of the land, from totem pole carving to the significance of territorial acknowledgments. She aims to deepen the traveler's understanding of Canada not just as a geography, but as a collection of sovereign nations with living histories.
